I totally disappeared for two months there. Whoops. To tell the truth, I was kind of burnt out from sewing. I had been pushing myself very hard for the past year or so, first learning to sew plushies, then tackling my most complicated cosplay project yet, then getting ready for PAX East while setting up this project and trying to get an etsy store up and running (that will be ready sometime this year, I hope). After PAX, I just needed a bit of time to recharge and work on my other favorite craft: game development. Hopefully I’ll be able to strike a better balance going forward.
But anyway, after a nice break I’m getting back in the swing of things because Otakon is coming up! Last year was the first time in about five or six years that I missed Otakon, so this year will mark my triumphant return! However since my time is more limited than usual, I’m not taking on anything too challenging. My two cosplays for Otakon will be Lucina from Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Naoto (summer casual outfit) from Persona 4: two awesome blue-haired ladies from games I’ve played recently that I adore. It’s going to be a lot of fun.
I like to keep a checklist of what I need to do for each costume so that my mind doesn’t start spinning trying to keep track of it all. I started the Lucina costume a while ago since I was originally going to do it for PAX, and I recently started picking up items for Naoto. (I’d like to get that one out of the way since it’s far easier.)
LUCINA: turtleneck (needs cuffs made), leggings (done!), shoulder armor, wig (bought but not styled yet), gloves (done!), crown, cape, tunic, boots, sword.
NAOTO: shirt (done!), tie (done!), hat, pants, shoes.
I’ll post more detailed progress on each later!
