I am madly in love with Baldur’s Gate 3, and when I like something this much, I just have to make art about it. One of my many favorite things about it is the little quasit familiar you can find early on in Act 1, Shovel. A gross little gremlin who used to belong to a necromancer and loves digging up corpses and eating babies, she’s adorable and hilarious. So I just had to make a plushie so I could give her a big hug!
I used NazFX’s Werewolf plush pattern for the body, with a couple modifications. I mainly reduced some of the muscles in the arms and legs, and subdivided a couple of pieces for different colors.
I custom drafted the head, tail, ears, spikes, and claws, and digitized custom embroidery. The head took about 25 prototypes or so, as I tackled several different approaches. But once the head was nailed down, everything else was pretty easy.
The head is thread sculpted between the eyes, under the chin, and under the cheekbones. The sunken cheeks were crucial to getting her looking correct!
The ears are wired and posable!
SO MANY SPIKES. She’s got a ton on her neck, back, tail, knees, and elbows. I started with the biggest spikes and gradually made smaller and smaller ones until just the tail remained. This part alone took about three days.
The last step was to embroider a lil bellybutton!
@alexlynncrafts Like to hug Shovel. Comment to let her set something on fire. Thank you @Larian Studios for making my favorite game of all time. Please accept this humble tribute! #baldursgate3 #bg3 #plushartist #shovelthequasit #quasit #dnd ♬ original sound – eleniel
If you are interested in making your own quasit, I have uploaded my head pattern and embroidery files to my Ko-Fi. Please know it is very bare-bones and not a full pattern, so you will still have your work cut out for you, but at least you won’t have to draft the head.
Now back to playing BG3~

Omfg (excuse my abbreviated language) he/she/it/whatevs is somehow BEYOND perfect.
Coveting like a sumbritch over here. Better than any “officially licensed” product that would or could ever fo to market, without a doubt.
I have no talent to make my own, but I’d buy one in a heartbeat if ever given half a chance!

Thanks so much! I’m really proud of her.

Hey I am genuinely interested in giving you money to make a custom Shovel plush if you are interested. I absolutely LOVE how you did it and you are the only person I’ve seen that actually has made a plush of her. Please let me know if you are interested and we can figure things out!
alex
Hi Brenden, thank you so much for the kind words! Unfortunately Shovel is not for sale and I do not have the bandwidth to make another, it was a very difficult project. But I really appreciate the interest. Thank you!
