Sometimes you are just so into something that you gotta do a craft about it.
That’s exactly what happened as I watched Dimension 20’s A Court of Fey and Flowers this summer and fall. I love D20, and this show was particularly my jam: high magic, fairies and beasts and goblins, love and relationships–what else could you possibly ask for?
And then Lady Grabalba, Viscountess of the Goblin Court, arrived in the story. An instant favorite due to her attitude and confidence, she’s also completely adorable. So I just had to make a plush!
I used Choly Knight’s doll patterns to make her, starting with the base and using the werewolf face from the monster embroidery pack. I modified the embroidery file to add another tooth and separate the nose from the mouth embroidery so I could make the nose purple.
Her hair is Shannon minky in “Mallard”, overdyed with charcoal synthetic dye to make it darker. I started with the braided hair base and added additional braids to get her look. Her ears are custom drafted based on the official art.
I used Choly Knight’s base doll sweater pattern for her dress, modifying it by making the sleeves more of a bell shape and adding length to make it a dress. The cloak is the selkie cloak, made with a combination of purple cotton, gray faux fur, and black fleece lining.
I hope this helps if you decide to make your own Grabalba doll! Let’s go Goblins!!
